Walsall Pride For All Statement from its trustees
Cancellation of Walsall Pride 2020
It is with great sadness and regret that we have to announce this years Walsall Pride, which was due to take place on Saturday 29th August, has been cancelled. The continued uncertainty regarding COVID-19 means that it has become impossible to continue planning for this years event. Stall holders and some suppliers have understandably started to drop out and the lack of sponsorship deals also means we were unable to deliver an event we would be proud of and it is not clear how long the current situation will go on for. Ultimately the health and safety of the public and our team of volunteers is our first priority and we put this before anything else. As much as we would like to carry on with our event it just isn’t viable at this time and know you will all understand why we have made this decision.
We know that this news will be of huge disappointment to a lot of people and will be a huge loss for Walsall town centre with the visitors that pride attract each year with our relaxed, welcoming and inclusive atmosphere.
This decision has not been taken lightly and us as a team are heartbroken, however it is the right decision at his time and we promise to be back in 2021 with our 10th anniversary event on Saturday 28th August 2021 and we hope that you will all join us then.
We would like to thank everyone for the support we have had from the community of Walsall. Please take care of yourselves and love ones; and remember to offer extra support to those most vulnerable to this pandemic.
